I have to say the best part of this rental was not the car, it was how I paid for it. I booked through QEEQ and when I saw the One-Dollar Freeze option I was a bit unsure. In my head I was like is it really only one dollar first, or will they charge some weird fee later. In the end it felt much easier than I expected. I booked the car a few days before my trip when I had already fixed my plan for Fort Lauderdale in the middle of March. At that time I had just paid for flights and hotel. My credit card felt pretty tight. So I chose this service and when I placed the booking they only charged one dollar. When I saw that on my statement I felt very relaxed. The pressure on my card was much smaller. I remember picking up the car around midday from Avis in Fort Lauderdale. Before that day I kept thinking about the rest of the money. I was worried there might be some interest or extra charge. As the pickup date got closer I saw the rest of the rental fee show up on my credit card. The amount was the same as the price I saw when I booked. Nothing extra. I even checked it twice to make sure it was right. Then I felt fully safe. During that time I kept an eye on my card because I was afraid of being overcharged. Every time I opened the bill and saw only that one dollar at first I was a bit surprised. I thought so it really works like this. When the full amount was finally charged I checked again. No interest. No strange small fees. I felt this kind of plan is really friendly for someone like me traveling from another country. My budget is not huge but I could still lock in the car early. On the pickup day at the Avis counter the process was normal. Show the documents and get the keys for the Mazda CX-50. My mind was more on my trip budget. I kept thinking that if I could not book with just one dollar at the start I might have waited much longer to reserve a car. As a person who still feels kind of like a student and is careful with money this pay a little now and the rest later idea really helped me. My credit card did not get hit with a big amount at once so I did not feel much pressure. Looking back this one dollar first then automatic charge before the rental with no interest stayed in my mind the most. It felt like they saved a spot for me and let me catch up with the money when my trip got closer. For me as an overseas visitor coming from Canada to the US this made the whole booking feel a lot more comfortable.
