Ciudad del Este has a subtropical climate with two distinct seasons: wet (October-March) and dry (April-September). During the wet season, sudden downpours can reduce visibility to near-zero and cause localized flooding on low-lying roads—reduce speed and use headlights. The dry season offers easier driving conditions but brings haze and occasional smoke from agricultural burning in neighboring regions. No snow or winter tires needed ever, but ensure your rental includes functional windshield wipers and AC (non-negotiable in the muggy summer heat).
